DETAILS
Lochiel House was built in 1825 by former convict Joseph Douglas. Originally named Ivy Lodge, it served as the first accommodation house in the area. Today, the inn retains all of its original rustic character, while delivering some of the finest Mod Oz/Asian-inspired cuisine in the area. Scoring a coveted Chef's Hat in 2005, Lochiel House has gained a quiet reputation that has continued to grow since the house opened as an eatery in 1994.
Set in a country garden at the foothills of the Blue Mountains, the verandah makes a beautiful spot for a late-morning brunch en-route to the mountains. A fine selection of scones, cakes, breads and good coffee are all on offer to tempt you into lingering a little longer.
Inside, the four dining rooms are intimate and comfortable, wtih unpolished wooden floorboards, oriental rugs and walls adorned with drawings, watercolours and screen prints.
CHEF/OWNERS
Chefs/owners Monique Maul and Anthony Milroy have both worked under Neil Perry (at Wockpool and Rockpool respectively) and have come into their own with Lochiel House, presenting a well-thought-out menu showcasing local Hawkesbury produce with distinctive Asian and Mediterranean touches.
